Squirrels are a lot like getting published…

…they gotta work hard, but oh, it’s so worth it!

Heh. I think I’ve seen that one before.

  2. Chris says:

Ok, I’m sorry but nothing should have to be that hard…Wow!

Great fun. My animal training background colors my perception, though. I spent the whole viewing figuring out how it was trained (through back-chaining, if you care), and wondering if I could train the wild crows at my house to do something similar.

Anyway — if you like that, you’ll love what I think is the best squirrel story ever:

Oh well, that’s it then. You think I’m gonna hang upside down by my nails, run through too-narrow pipes (I’d get stuck), cling onto a backward-swinging disc with no safety net, tightrope over a canyon (vertigo), leap 50ft chasms? Just to get published? I’m packing in my computer and I’m off to play football for Portugal instead.

Oh, I need to exit this page before my husband sees it and builds something similar in our garden… for me!

Mind you, I’d rather be jumping through hoops than toiling over the umpteenth draft…

I can feel for that squirrel. I’m off humming Eye of the Tiger for him. =)

  7. I’m not alone.

  8. I haven’t laughed so hard in ages. Thanks!

I’ve got just a regular bird feeder on a pole outside, with a gadget that closes it up if a squirrel steps on the perch. I’ve got one squirrel that gets a running start and swear to God jumps at the pole hind feet first and smacks it with a real live ninja kick to shake the seeds onto the ground.

  10. Tom, that’s a squirrel I’d love to have in my corner – someone clever and who kicks ass.

  11. Webb says:

    That resmbles my commute

So can the beagle do that?

  12. Webb says:

Wait a minute, how the hell does he get back down?

  13. tbrosz says:

“Tom, that’s a squirrel I’d love to have in my corner – someone clever and who kicks ass.”

Better not let your beagle see that! There are few worse insults in the dog world than the term “squirrel lover.”
